This is part 4 of 4 honeymoon posts.
On Friday, we ate breakfast and headed for O’Hare. We took some pictures of our room at Ray’s beforehand.
This is Maggie, one of Ray’s cats. I left with many scratches from her.
I should probably review Ray’s here – Ray’s is amazing. The staff was wonderful and the breakfasts were too amazing for words. Some days we didn’t eat lunch because we were so full from breakfast! We’re still talking about those breakfasts, and for good reason.
Next we headed to O’Hare, where we waited for hours.
And hours. and hours. It rained, and our flight was delayed, and delayed, and delayed, and cancelled. The next flight out of Chicago to Louisville was Sunday morning. This was Friday night, and we expected to go home that day. The airline didn’t let us get our baggage, so all we were left with was what was in our carryons. Unfortunately we had thrown out all of our toiletries and didn’t pack any extra clothes. (We were going home! It was supposed to be foolproof!) We stayed two more nights at a hotel nearby and took a taxi to Walgreens for necessities and lunch. Thankfully there was a washer and dryer in the hotel so we could at least wash our clothes! We also had my computer with me, so we watched probably half of Firefly. Sunday morning we were up and at ’em at 5am to visit O’Hare again. This flight had no problems and we were home in just a few hours! Unfortunately our baggage didn’t come through baggage claim like usual because it had shipped earlier, so it was behind a locked door and we had to wait forever for someone to let us get it. (Moral of the story: no more checked luggage ever. We can survive on carryons because that will never happen again!)
And we’re finally home! We took multiple shots of this picture, and if you can believe it, this was the least offensive one. We got to our apartment around noon on Sunday and we were pretty gross after being up for so long.
So that’s the end of our honeymoon! Despite the weird ending we had so much fun and it was unforgettable!
